As per reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Surat on Friday (07 March) will lead to road closures, traffic diversions, and major disruptions to public transport. PM Modi will arrive at Surat Airport at 1330 hours and depart for Selvas. At 1630 hours, he will lead a roadshow from Parvat Patiya to Nilgiri Ground, Limbayat, followed by a public address at Nilgiri Ground at 1700 hours. He will then proceed to Circuit House at 1830 hours for an overnight stay. On Saturday (08 March), he will depart from Surat Airport to Navsari for another program.
Key road closures, restrictions, disruption and alternate routes include :
• The stretch from Nilgiri Circle to Udhna Railway Station will operate as a one-way route, covering Nilgiri Circle, Underground, Ranth Chowk, Udhna Railway Overbridge, Udhna Road No. 0, Mirror Hotel, Udhna Road No. 3, and GEB Office Junction.
• Golaghanti Garnala on Udhna Road No. 0 will be completely closed in both directions, while the route from Midas Square Crossroads to Cultural AC Market will be closed to all traffic.
• 30 city and BRTS bus routes will remain suspended on Friday (07 March) along Prime Minister Modi’s route in Surat. Commuters will need to rely on private vehicles or auto-rickshaws due to the suspension of municipal transport services. Additionally, 1,500 buses have been arranged to transport beneficiaries from various parts of Gujarat for the event.
• Alternative routes for Udhna traffic: Vehicles from Udhna Railway Station should take Nilgiri Circle – Udhna Road No. 0, 3, 6 – Dindoli Road – Bhimnagar Garnalu – Udhna Police Station – Bharwadnagar Junction – Nilgiri Circle – Sai Point – Dindoli. Traffic from Udhna Railway East Yard should use Bhimnagar Garnalu – Bharwadnagar Crossroads – Ratan Chowk – Railway Over Bridge – Railway East Yard.
• Alternative route for Maharana Pratap Char Rasta traffic: Vehicles traveling from Maharana Pratap Char Rasta to Midas Square to Cultural AC Market should take the Kangaroo Circle – Nava Suda Road – Bharat Laktariya Cancer Hospital route.
