Traffic restrictions due to Varna Marathon scheduled on Sunday (17 May)

As per reports, authorities are scheduled to implement traffic restrictions across parts of Varna, Bulgaria due to International Athletics Varna Marathon 2026, on Sunday (17 May).

Restrictions and closures are scheduled between 0830 hours local time (0530 hours UTC) and 1500 hours local time (1200 hours UTC) on Sunday (17 May).

• The designated marathon route is along major coastal corridors in Varna, including sections of Knyaz Boris I Boulevard, Primorski Boulevard, the Coastal Alley, and surrounding waterfront areas.
• Authorities stated that vehicle movement is scheduled to be prohibited along Knyaz Boris I Boulevard from the traffic light junction near the University of Economics to the Stamboliyski stop. Restrictions are also scheduled along parts of Primorski Boulevard and M. Koloni Street.
• Access to parts of the Sea Garden and the Coastal Alley is scheduled to remain restricted during the event period as these areas form part of the marathon route.
• Authorities stated that access to resort complexes located along the affected coastal corridor is to be redirected through Vinitsa district.
• Authorities further stated that all restricted roads and closed sections are scheduled to be marked using signal strips, restrictive cones, movable barriers, and police presence. Volunteers are also scheduled to assist with traffic management and crowd control operations along the route.
