Traffic restrictions announced on northern routes of Iran on Tuesday (23 December)

As per reports, road closures and traffic restrictions have been announced across multiple national highways in the northern parts of Iran to manage congestion, ensure safety, and support road maintenance operations on Tuesday (23 December).

• On Chalus Road and Tehran–North Freeway, all vehicle traffic is prohibited in both directions until 1900 hours local time (1530 hours UTC) on Tuesday (23 December). Commuters have been advised to use alternative routes.
• On Chalus Road in Mazandaran Province, Kamarzard area, kilometer 65, closures are scheduled on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays till 02 January 2026, between 0700 hours local time (0330 hours UTC) and 1900 hours local time (1530 hours UTC). Suggested alternative routes are highways of Haraz and Savadkooh.
• Closures were reported on multiple arterial and secondary routes including Bandar Khamir – Bandar Lengeh, Bandar Lengeh – Parsian, Doab – Baladeh, Sarvabad – Paveh, Si Sakht – Padna, Muzaffarabad – Rudbar, Qaleh Ganj – Rudbar, Khansar – Buyin and Miandasht, Zarabad – Chahan, Jolgeh – Chah Eshaq, Faryab – Kahnouj, Qaleh Ganj – Ramshak, Qaleh Ganj – Jask, Punal – Khalkhal and Ganjnameh – Tuyserkan. The roads are to remain closed until further notice.
• Additionally, heavy congestion has been reported on Qazvin–Karaj–Tehran Freeway, Karaj–Qazvin Freeway and Shahriar–Tehran Road.
