As per reports, the General Directorate of Cairo Traffic has announced a temporary directional closure and traffic diversion plan for the Qasr al-Nil Bridge in central Cairo from Thursday (21 May) through Friday (22 May).
• The infrastructure maintenance window is scheduled to affect the arterial link spanning the Nile River to facilitate structural repairs.
• Operational restrictions dictate a full directional closure for vehicles traveling from El-Gezira Square toward Tahrir Square from 2000 hours local time (1700 hours UTC) on Thursday (21 May) until 1400 hours local time (1100 hours UTC) on Friday (22 May).
• The scheduled maintenance works are anticipated to impact regional traffic flows across central commercial and administrative hubs.
• Traffic authorities have deployed specialized personnel, clear signage, and warning indicators to streamline alternative vehicular flows.
• The affected areas include El-Gezira Square, Tahrir Square, El-Gezira Street, and central road networks linking the island district to Downtown Cairo, with key road corridors at risk of secondary delays, including the 6th of October Bridge and El-Gezira Street.
