As per reports, authorities announced the temporary closure of the Brenner motorway (A13) in Tirol, Austria, on 30 May due to a planned protest demonstration against increasing transit traffic along the Brenner corridor.
• Reports indicate that the A13 Brenner motorway remains scheduled for closure in both directions between 1100 hours local time (0900 hours UTC) and 1900 hours local time (1700 hours UTC) on 30 May between the Schönberg toll station and the Austrian-Italian border at the Brenner Pass. Authorities also stated that a day-long driving ban applies to trucks exceeding seven point five tonnes along the Brenner corridor.
• Reportedly, local parallel roads including the B182 federal road and adjoining regional roads in the Wipptal area remain subject to movement restrictions, with access limited primarily to residents and authorised local traffic.
• Reports suggest that authorities anticipate severe traffic congestion and travel disruption across Tirol and adjoining transit corridors during the closure period. Alternate routes including the Gotthard route through Switzerland, the Reschen Pass, and the A10 Tauern motorway remain recommended for through traffic. Railway operations across the Brenner corridor continue, although authorities warned of possible congestion and delays affecting bus services and surrounding road networks.
