As per reports, severe traffic congestion was recorded across northern Bogotá, following the implementation of a partial lane closure at the intersection of Calle 100 and Carrera 11, on Friday (06 February).
The restriction, introduced during peak rush hours, caused congestion that spread to Carrera Séptima and affected the stretch in front of the World Trade Center Bogotá and the headquarters of several major financial institutions.
• The congestion reportedly spilled over into Calle 94 and Calle 106, while traffic attempting to connect with Carrera 15 and Carrera Séptima further worsened delays.
• The Bogotá Ministry of Mobility deployed civilian traffic agents to regulate flow but acknowledged limited response capacity given traffic volumes and advised motorists to avoid Calle 100 eastbound.
• The closure is part of the critical construction phase of the Avenida 68 Trunk Line, a project designed to connect southern and northern Bogotá via Calle 100 and serve as a feeder corridor for the city’s first Metro line. The estimated time of completion is not announced yet. Congestion is expected through Sunday (08 February).
