The Hong Kong Transport Department (TD) has announced special traffic and transport arrangements across parts of Hong Kong in connection with the Dragon Boat Festival (Tuen Ng Festival) celebrations and dragon boat races scheduled between Thursday (18 June) and Sunday (21 June).

Following are the details:

• In the Southern District, Hoi Fung Path and Stanley Link Road will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic from 0600 hours to 2100 hours (local time) on Friday (19 June), except for local residents, police vehicles, and emergency vehicles.
• The operating hours of pedestrian precincts will also be adjusted, with Stanley Main Street designated as a pedestrian precinct from 0700 hours to 2300 hours (local time), while Stanley New Street and Stanley Market Road will operate as pedestrian precincts from 0700 hours to 2100 hours (local time).
• Several public transport arrangements will also be implemented on Friday (19 June). Citybus special route 73S between Stanley Village and Ocean Park Station will operate from 1630 hours to 2000 hours (local time), with additional departures subject to demand.
• Citybus routes 6, 6X, 14, 65, 73, and 260 will be strengthened or adjusted according to passenger demand and traffic conditions, while the first departure of route 260 from Central (Exchange Square) will be advanced to 0645 hours (local time).
• Green Minibus route 40 will be suspended from 0600 hours to 1900 hours (local time), while route 40X will be strengthened. The kaito ferry service between Aberdeen Promenade and Ap Lei Chau will be suspended from 0700 hours to 1700 hours (local time).
• Selected bus stops, minibus stands, and taxi stands in Stanley, Repulse Bay, and Aberdeen will also be temporarily suspended or relocated in phases.
• In Tai Po, Dai King Street, Dai Hei Street, and the section of Dai Kwai Street south of Dai Cheong Street will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic from 1800 hours (local time) on Thursday (18 June) until 1700 hours (local time) on Friday (19 June), except for taxis, emergency vehicles, and vehicles authorized by police officers on site.
• During the closure period, KMB route 72A in both directions will be diverted and will not serve the affected road sections. Bus stops located along the closed roads will be suspended. A temporary taxi pick-up and drop-off area will operate on the section of Dai Hei Street west of Dai Kwai Street between 0700 hours and 1700 hours (local time) on Friday (19 June).
• The Transport Department has also warned of significantly increased traveller and vehicle volumes at Hong Kong’s land boundary control points before and after the Tuen Ng Festival holiday. Authorities expect particularly heavy inbound traffic during the afternoon and evening of Sunday (21 June), when waiting times for public transport services may increase substantially.
• To accommodate increased demand, additional transport services will be introduced. MTR East Rail Line services between Admiralty and Lo Wu/Lok Ma Chau stations will be enhanced between Thursday (18 June) and Sunday (21 June). Additional train services will also operate on the Hong Kong section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link on Friday (19 June) and Sunday (21 June).
• Frequencies of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge shuttle bus and the Lok Ma Chau-Huanggang shuttle bus will be increased during peak periods, while additional cross-boundary coach services and franchised bus services serving land boundary control points will also be deployed.
• Travellers using the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge towards Zhuhai have also been advised that the temporary link bridge connecting Zhuhai Port and Qinglu South Road remains closed. Authorities expect heavy traffic conditions around Zhuhai Port during peak holiday periods.
• Special traffic arrangements may also be implemented at Lok Ma Chau Control Point and Shenzhen Bay Port depending on prevailing traffic conditions.
