As per reports, Barcelona is scheduled to host the finish of the second stage of the 2026 Tour de France on Sunday (05 July) with the city expected to attract large numbers of spectators as the race concludes in the Montjuïc area.
• The event is expected to result in extensive traffic management measures, road closures, parking restrictions, and changes to mobility across several parts of the city to ensure the safety of participants and the public.
• The race is expected to enter Barcelona via the Collblanc area before passing through Les Corts, continuing along Sants Road to Plaça d’Espanya, and then proceeding into Montjuïc, where cyclists will complete two laps of a demanding finishing circuit.
• The route includes Avinguda de la Reina Maria Cristina, Avinguda de Rius i Taulet, Passeig de Montjuïc, and Carretera de Montjuïc, with the final ascent leading to Montjuïc Castle.
• A special mobility management plan will be implemented throughout the day. Initial traffic restrictions will begin at 1200 hours local time (1000 hours UTC) with the entire race circuit fully closed to vehicular traffic by 1330 hours local time (1130 hours UTC).
• The race route is expected to be completely fenced, preventing normal vehicle access and significantly limiting pedestrian crossing points along the circuit.
• The period between 1545 hours and 1745 hours local time (1345 hours 1545 hours UTC) is expected to experience the greatest mobility restrictions, particularly around Montjuïc and Plaça d’Espanya, where access will be heavily restricted due to the cyclists completing two laps of the finishing circuit and two climbs towards Montjuïc Castle.
• Cyclists are expected to reach Barcelona at approximately 1657 hours local time (1447 ours UTC) with race operations continuing until approximately 1800 hours local time (1600 hours UTC).
• Preparatory activities will begin one day earlier. From 0600 hours local time (0400 hours UTC) on Saturday (04 July) vehicles parked along the race circuit will be removed to facilitate the installation of race infrastructure and ensure a vehicle-free route for the event.
• Authorities have advised residents and visitors to avoid using private vehicles, particularly in Montjuïc, Plaça d’Espanya, Sants, and surrounding areas, and instead use public transport, walk, or cycle where practical.
