Trade unions to observe ‘Black Day’ and stage nationwide protests on Wednesday in New Delhi (01 April)

As per reports, a joint platform of Central Trade Unions (CTUs) and independent sectoral federations has called for a nationwide “Black Day” on Wednesday (01 April) in New Delhi.

• The protest is directed against the government’s implementation of four new labour codes: the Code on Wages (2019), Industrial Relations Code (2020), Social Security Code (2020), and Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code (2020).
• The agitation is scheduled to coincide with the government’s notification of the Central rules for these codes.
• Participating unions include AITUC, HMS, CITU, AIUTUC, TUCC, SEWA, AICCTU, LPF, and UTUC, with solidarity support from the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM).
