Trade union PEO calls nationwide mobilization on 01 May

As per reports, mass demonstrations and events have been announced by the Pancyprian Federation of Labour (PEO) for 30 April and 01 May across multiple cities in Cyprus to mark International Workers’ Day. The mobilizations are being organized under the slogan “Common struggle for a common homeland against wars and exploitation,” reflecting broader labor and socio political concerns.

• According to event details shared by the federation, coordinated gatherings are scheduled in key urban centers including Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, Paphos, and Famagusta on 01 May, with an additional event planned in Polis Chrysochous on 30 April. The demonstrations are expected to include marches, speeches, and organized assemblies highlighting workers’ rights, economic conditions, and opposition to conflict and exploitation.
• The Pancyprian Federation of Labour has emphasized that the events form part of its annual commemoration of International Workers’ Day, with a focus on collective action and solidarity. Participation levels are expected to be significant given the nationwide scope and the involvement of organized labor groups.
