As per reports, the Trade Union Front for the Defense of Labor in Senegal announced plans for a major national march scheduled in Dakar on 08 April.

• The march reportedly aims to protest alleged injustices faced by workers and to demand respect for labor rights.
• The union statement highlighted multiple grievances, including the immediate cessation of unjustified salary deductions imposed on striking teachers in February 2026, reimbursement of the deducted sums, and a call for sincere dialogue with teachers’ unions.
• Reports indicate that the union is also demanding full compliance with the National Pact for Social Stability, an end to unfair dismissals, and effective job protection.
• The statement reportedly included a warning that the government may face a general strike if these demands are not addressed, emphasizing that ‘the patience of workers has limits’ and that workers are not expected to remain passive in the face of worsening living conditions.
