As per reports around 1545 hours on Friday (20 September), a tornado broke out near Wanda Mao near Chengnan Village Road on the north side of the G50 Shanghai-Chongqing Expressway in Qingpu District, Shanghai. Tornadoes were reported in suburban Shanghai due to the residual effects of Typhoon Prasang and a cold front from the north. The Shanghai meteorological center indicated that tornadoes are more likely to occur in unstable conditions during typhoons when ground wind force weakens.
