Tokyo Police arrest man for ramming car into Prime Minister’s Office on Saturday (19 October); no injuries reported

As per reports, a man was arrested early Saturday morning (19 October) for ramming his car into the Prime Minister’s Office and obstructing police from conducting their duty. Earlier, he also threw six Molotov cocktails in front of the main gate of the Liberal Democratic Party’s (LDP) headquarters in the Nagatocho District of Tokyo’s Chiyoda Ward at around 0543 hours.

• The car had a Saitama license plate, and a large number of plastic containers were found loaded inside. The 49-year-old perpetrator has reportedly not complied with investigations and has remained silent since.
• A large police contingent remains stationed around the LDP headquarters, restricting access to civilians.
• No injuries have been reported.
