Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds forecast across parts of Malaysia on Thursday (17 September)

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for parts of Malaysia, valid until 0600 hours (local time) on Thursday (17 September).

• Thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain and strong winds are expected across Perlis; parts of Kedah, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang; Penang; several areas of Sarawak and Sabah; and the Federal Territory of Labuan during the warning period.
• In Kedah, the warning covers Pokok Sena, Pendang, Baling, Kulim, Bandar Baharu, Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Yan, Kuala Muda and Langkawi. In Perak, Hulu Perak, Bagan Datuk, Kerian, Selama, Larut Matang and Manjung are affected. The warning also covers Gua Musang in Kelantan; Hulu Terengganu, Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Kuala Terengganu, Marang and Dungun in Terengganu; and Cameron Highlands, Lipis and Jerantut in Pahang.
• In Sarawak, affected locations include Mukah, Sibu, Bintulu, Limbang, Miri, Marudi, Beluru, Subis, Kabong, Saratok and Sarikei. In Sabah, the warning covers Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu and Papar on the West Coast, and Sipitang, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort and Membakut in the Interior.
