The Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia) has predicted the emergence of thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and strong winds in parts of Malaysia until 2300 hours (local time) on Tuesday (20 January). The alert has been active since 2030 hours (local time).

Affected regions include:

• Kedah — Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu.
• Penang.
• Perak — Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar and Kinta.
