According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia), a thunderstorm warning was issued at 2100 hours (local time) on Saturday (16 May) for parts of Malaysia, including Kedah, Sarawak and Sabah.
• The warning remains in effect until 0100 hours (local time) on Sunday (17 May), with thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rainfall and strong winds expected during the advisory period.
• In Kedah, affected areas include Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Yan, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Sik, and Baling.
• In Sarawak, the warning covers Kuching (Bau and Kuching), Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Kapit (Song and Kapit), Bintulu, and Miri (Beluru).
• In Sabah, affected districts include Interior (Sipitang, Tenom, Nabawan, Keningau, Tambunan), West Coast (Ranau), Sandakan (Tongod), and Kudat (Kudat).
