As per the Malaysian Meteorological Department advisory issued for Thursday (02 April), thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain and strong winds are expected across parts of Sarawak and Sabah until 0400 hours (local time).

• Thunderstorms with heavy rain and gusty winds are expected across parts of Sarawak, including Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei (Pakan and Julau), Sibu (Kanowit), Kapit, Bintulu (Tatau) and Miri (Beluru, Telang Usan and Marudi).
• Similar conditions are forecast across Sabah, including Interior (Tenom and Nabawan), West Coast (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu and Tuaran), Tawau (Tawau and Semporna) and Sandakan (Telupid and Beluran).
• The advisory indicates short-duration but intense weather activity, including localized heavy rainfall, lightning and strong wind gusts during the warning period.
