As per reports, a terrorist encounter was reported at Purok 1, Barangay Liningding, Munai, Lanao del Norte, on Friday (23 January) at around 1030 hours (local time). During the encounter, four soldiers were killed in action, and one sustained injuries. The gunmen are suspected to be of Dawlah Islamiyah-Maute Group.

Clearing and pursuit operations are ongoing against the gunmen. Troops are coordinating with local authorities for the safety and security of the area. Further details awaited.
