As per reports, the management of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) announced the official resumption and commencement of construction works to upgrade the primary refinery access route into a six-lane concrete dual carriageway during the Government Accountability Series on Monday (26 October).
• Speaking at the briefing on Monday (26 October), TOR Managing Director Edmond Kombat stated that contractors Joshob Construction Limited and Lemef Construction Limited have mobilized to the site under a Ministry of Roads and Highways directive to execute the project as part of the government’s Big Push Road Projects programme.
• The comprehensive infrastructure overhaul follows longstanding concerns and recent industrial action threats by tanker drivers in August and September 2026 regarding the severe deterioration of the road network.
• The project scope encompasses the corridor from the Tema Steel Works Junction directly to the Tema Oil Refinery Junction, alongside complete rehabilitation of the refinery’s frontage featuring a new water fountain landscape path.
