As per reports, heightened security deployment is being reported at Gandhi Bhavan and Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Bhavan in Nampally, Hyderabad ahead of the protest scheduled on Thursday (18 December). Congress in Telangana has announced a series of protests across the state against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Union government over alleged misuse of central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to target political rivals and the dilution of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).
The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) finalised plans to hold demonstrations in front of BJP offices at all district headquarters on Thursday (18 December), demanding that the party issue a public apology to the nation over the ED’s actions targeting leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case. The state Congress announced another round of protests on Sunday (21 December) at all district headquarters against the renaming of the MGNREGA.
