Teachers’ strikes reported in Bungoma, Kisii, Eldoret and Mombasa on Monday (26 August)

As per reports, teachers’ demonstrations and school closures have already been reported in Kisii, Bungoma, Mombasa, and Eldoret, with teachers disrupting the reopening of schools for the third term on Monday (26 August).

• In Kisii, the teachers, dressed in yellow shirts, staged demonstrations on Monday (26 August).
• Bungoma, teachers assembled at Bungoma High School to ensure that no teacher or student would enter into the compound on Monday (26 August).
• In Mombasa, the senior teachers continued strikes along with the junior secondary school teachers on Monday (26 August).
• In Eldoret, teachers protested following the government’s decision to reduce their allocation for their medical cover from Sh22 billion to Sh11 billion. The Kuppet members matched on the streets before handing over a memorandum of demands at the TSC office in Eldoret on Monday (26 August).
