Synagogue set on fire in East Melbourne on Friday (04 July) night; protest reported in CBD

As per reports, a synagogue in East Melbourne was set on fire at around 2000 hours on Friday (04 July), followed by a protest at a Jewish-owned restaurant on Para Road, Greensborough. Three cars were set on fire during the protest.

At the synagogue, investigations suggest that a man entered the grounds of the East Melbourne Hebrew Congregation on Albert Street, poured a flammable liquid on the front door and set it ailght with 20 people inside the building. No casualties were reported as everyone fled through the rear of the building.
