As per reports, the Swedish government has introduced a voluntary repatriation scheme offering EUR 30,000 to each migrant wishing to return to their country of origin, as announced on Thursday (26 September).
This policy, which is currently in a test phase and expected to be fully implemented by 2026, is part of broader measures aimed at controlling and limiting migratory flows. The move marks a shift from Sweden’s historically open-door policy, aligning with the government’s stricter stance on immigration.
