As per reports, a suspected piracy incident has been reported involving an Iranian-flagged dhow identified as ‘ALWASEEMI 786’ on Wednesday (25 March).
• According to maritime security reporting, the vessel has likely been hijacked by a suspected Pirate Action Group (PAG) and is believed to be operating in the Arabian Sea, approximately 400 nautical miles east of Mogadishu, Somalia.
• The alert, issued at approximately 0834 hours UTC, indicates that the situation is ongoing, with limited confirmed details regarding the status of the crew.
• Maritime security agencies, including European naval authorities, have flagged the vessel as a potential ‘mothership’, raising concerns that it could be used to support further piracy operations in the region.
