State of emergency declared in Louisiana amid winter storm on Saturday (18 January)

As per reports, Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry has declared a State of Emergency ahead of a cold weather event forecast. A winter storm watch is in effect for most of the state, with severe weather conditions expected from Monday (20 January) through Thursday (23 January). This will include a potential deep freeze, hazardous travel conditions, and significant impacts across all 64 parishes in Louisiana.

• Wind chills are expected to reach the teens and low 20s by Monday (20 January) morning, with temperatures falling to hard freeze levels in northern Louisiana.
• Snow and ice are possible, particularly north of I-10, with hazardous travel conditions anticipated from Monday (20 January) night through Wednesday (22 January).
