As per reports, State Highway 25A will be closed overnight from 2130 hours on Wednesday (06 March) to 0500 hours on Thursday (07 March) to facilitate final restoration works at the Taparahi worksite. Accordingly, vehicles will be diverted via SH25 along the Thames coast and Coromandel township, or via SH26, SH2, and SH25 through the Karangahake Gorge, Waihi, and Whangamata. Access for local traffic along SH25A will be maintained up to the bridge from both the east and west.
During this closure, the New Zealand Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) will install a new rubber seal into one of the bridge joints spanning the entire road width. Simultaneously, grates will be installed on the side drains along the eastern road approach.
