As per reports, the National Weather Service office in Pocatello, Idaho, issued a special weather statement at 1730 hours local time (2330 hours UTC) on Thursday (23 April), based on Doppler radar tracking of strong thunderstorms affecting parts of Eastern Idaho, including Rexburg, Sugar City, Tetonia Research Station, and Green Canyon Hot Springs.
• Wind gusts of 80 to 89 kilometers per hour and hail of approximately 1.3 centimeters in diameter are the primary hazards associated with the identified thunderstorm activity, as indicated by radar.
• The National Weather Service has additionally issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch covering 10 counties across Eastern Idaho, including Teton and Fremont counties in the east, and Bannock, Bear Lake, Bingham, Bonneville, Caribou, Franklin, Madison, and Oneida counties in the southeast, in effect until 2100 hours local time (0300 hours UTC on Friday, 24 April).
• Broad communities within the Severe Thunderstorm Watch area include Rexburg, Idaho Falls, Pocatello, Blackfoot, Driggs, St. Anthony, Ashton, Preston, Montpelier, Soda Springs, and Victor, among others.
