As per reports, workers of the Samajwadi Party (SP) staged protests in Noida, Lucknow and Kanpur on Wednesday (19 November), against the India Today group for allegedly depicting party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav in a derogatory manner.
Following are the details:
• On Wednesday (19 November), SP workers protested outside the India Today office in Film City, Sector 16A of Noida. A large contingent of police were deployed ahead of the protest to prevent any escalations.
• Several SP workers protested at Hazratganj intersection in Lucknow, burning posters and banners, and sloganeering against a media organization. Party workers also scuffled with police, leading to some party workers being detained.
• Additionally, in Kanpur, SP workers gathered at the party office in Naveen Market and demanded an apology from the media group within 72 hours. They further announced that a statewide blockade of India Today offices will ensue if an apology is not issued.
