As per reports, a multi-phase winter weather system is scheduled to impact parts of New Jersey, Michigan, and Minnesota from late Monday night (05 January) into Tuesday (06 January), creating a combination of light snowfall, freezing rainfall, fog, and icy road conditions.

• In New Jersey, light snowfall is forecast, particularly across northern and central parts of the state, before transitioning into periods of rainfall as temperatures marginally rise above freezing later in the day and surface temperatures near the freezing threshold are expected to result in intermittent icy patches, especially on untreated roads, bridges, and elevated surfaces.
• In Michigan, forecasts indicate the potential for freezing rainfall and fog, with moisture freezing on contact in areas where ground temperatures remain below zero degrees Celsius, significantly increasing the risk of slick roadways.
• In Minnesota, overnight cooling combined with residual moisture is expected to lead to icy road conditions, particularly during peak commuter hours, before gradual improvement later in the day.
• The affected locations include northern and central New Jersey such as Bergen County, Essex County, Morris County, Union County, Middlesex County, and major corridors along Interstates 78, 80, 95, and the Garden State Parkway; Michigan locations including Grand Rapids, Lansing, Ann Arbor, Flint, Detroit metropolitan area, and stretches of Interstates 94, 96, and 75; and Minnesota areas including Minneapolis–Saint Paul Twin Cities, St. Cloud, Rochester, Mankato, and adjacent state and county road networks experiencing overnight and early morning icing.
