As per reports on Monday (27 July), a wildfire broke out in an agricultural forest area in the Messara region of Heraklion, Crete, within the Municipality of Phaistos.
• A 112 emergency alert was issued at 1422 hours local time (1122 hours UTC), advising residents to remain alert and follow instructions from authorities.
• Reports indicate that firefighting operations involved 54 firefighters, three groups from the 3rd Special Unit for Forest Operations (EMODE), volunteers, 17 vehicles, three helicopters, and water tankers from the Municipality of Phaistos.
• Strong winds at the site were reported to be affecting firefighting efforts.
