As per reports, a PKP Intercity Koziołek passenger train operating from Lublin Główny to Szczecin Główny derailed at Sokolniki Suche in the Mazovian Voivodeship at approximately 1125 hours local time (0925 hours UTC) on Wednesday (09 September) after colliding with a concrete mixer truck at a level crossing equipped with functioning light and sound signals.
• Around 120 passengers were travelling on the train. Authorities reported 20 people injured, with several taken to hospital, while one female passenger later died.
• The railway line between Wolanów and Przysucha on railway line 22 remains closed, with replacement buses introduced by PKP Intercity, Polregio, Łódź Agglomeration Railway and Koleje Mazowieckie.
• Rail disruption has spread across routes in Mazovia, with secondary delays also affecting services elsewhere in Poland; delays exceeding 100 minutes were reported on some services.
• The Polish Train Drivers’ Trade Union subsequently announced a protest action following an extraordinary meeting on Wednesday (09 September), citing safety concerns at road and rail crossings.
