Situational update on targeted mass shooting reported in East St. Louis, Illinois on Sunday (12 July)

As per reports, a targeted mass shooting took place across three locations in East St. Louis, St. Clair County, Illinois, on Sunday (12 July).

• Three persons were shot at the Samuel Gompers Homes public housing complex at the 400 block of North 6th Street. One person was fatally shot at the junction of 39th Street and Summit Street. Three others were injured at Jones Park.
• Seven members of a single family were shot across the three locations. Five casualties have been reported as of 1849 hours local time (2349 hours UTC) on Sunday (12 July).
• Illinois State Police (ISP) Director Brendan Kelly held a press conference on Sunday evening (12 July) to provide an update on the investigation. ISP confirmed that this was a targeted incident and stated that two suspects have been taken into custody. The investigation is still ongoing as of 1849 hours local time (2349 hours UTC) on Sunday (12 July).
