Situational update on stabbing incident reported in Boston on Friday (20 March)

As per reports, a stabbing incident was reported at the Forest Hills MBTA station in the Jamaica Plain area of Boston on Friday (20 March) at approximately 1115 hours local time (1515 hours UTC), after a man armed with a butcher knife threatened a bus driver and damaged property.

• A confrontation occurred between the individual and responding transit police officers, during which a firearm discharged. No gunshot or stabbing injuries were reported. Six individuals, including transit officers, were transported to hospital with non life threatening injuries.
• Authorities restricted access to parts of the station, including the upper busway, while maintaining operations on the Orange Line and lower busway. Bus services were rerouted during the response period.
• The suspect has been taken into custody.
