As per reports, large semitrailer fire broke out on the southbound lanes of I-55 (Stevenson Expressway), just north of Damen Avenue on Chicago’s southwest side, shortly after 1500 hours local time (2100 hours UTC) on Tuesday (09 December).

• Video footage reportedly showed flames engulfing the front of the truck and thick black smoke rising high into the air, visible from a considerable distance.
• Fire crews and emergency responders reportedly arrived on scene.
• At one point, all traffic lanes were closed to allow for fire suppression and cleanup. After firefighting efforts, the blaze was extinguished.
• By approximately 1600 hours local time (2200 hours UTC) at least one lane was reopened. Authorities reported that there were no injuries.
