As per reports, on Thursday (16 October), emergency crews from the Seymour Fire Department responded to a reported gas leak at the Shady Knoll Health Center on Skokorat Street at approximately 1606 hours local time (2006 hours UTC) on Thursday (16 October).
• Upon arrival, firefighters detected a strong odour of natural gas within the facility.
• Investigations revealed a faulty valve located behind a stove on the first floor as the source of the leak.
• As a precautionary measure, the first floor was evacuated while patients and staff on the upper two floors were instructed to shelter in place.
• Gas supply to the affected area was promptly shut off, and the situation was contained without any reported injuries.
• Following inspection and ventilation procedures, evacuated patients were safely returned to their rooms, and contractors were dispatched to repair the defective valve.
