As per reports, a fire broke out in Mathare B area, Nairobi, at about 0200 hours (local time) on Monday (19 May) morning, in which five individuals were killed, and four others were injured.

• The fire destroyed several housing units, leaving dozens of families homeless.
• A joint team from the county fire brigade and the military intervened to prevent the fire from spreading further.
