As per reports, airstrikes by the Israeli Defence Forces have been reported at the Katara District in Doha at around 1615 hours local time on Tuesday (09 September).
• According to reports, Hamas’s chief negotiator, Khalil al-Hayya, has been killed in the Israeli strike in Qatar. However, Hamas confirmed that its senior leadership has survived.
• Six people were killed, including five Hamas members and one Qatari security officer. Several others were reported injured.
• The strike marks the first time Israel has targeted Hamas figures on Qatari soil.
• The White House confirmed it had been notified in advance of the attack but later stated that it did not serve the strategic objectives of either Israel or the United States. President Trump assured Qatari leadership that such an incident would not be repeated on their territory.
• Qatar condemned the strike as a violation of international law, stating it received no prior warning.
• Prime Minister Netanyahu defended the action, stating Hamas leaders abroad would not enjoy immunity.
