As per reports, the authorities in Kikuube District have temporarily closed key border crossing points with the Democratic Republic of the Congo following an Ebola outbreak reported in eastern Congo as of Tuesday (26 May).

• The restrictions affect the Nsonga and Sebigoro border points along the shores of Lake Albert in Kyangwali and Kabwoya sub-counties.
• The closures were implemented by the District Security Committee and the District Ebola Taskforce as a precautionary public health measure to limit the potential cross-border spread of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).
• Authorities have also suspended community gatherings and markets, intensified traveller screening, and launched public awareness campaigns across the district.
• The affected regions due to border restrictions are Hoima, Kampala, Kyangwali, Kabwoya, Buhuka, Sebigoro and Kyehoro.
