As per reports, United States Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has issued a slight risk warning for severe weather across parts of central and eastern Oregon and Washington for the afternoon and evening hours of Thursday (28 May).

• Forecasts indicate the potential for severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind gusts, large hail, frequent lightning activity, and isolated landspout tornadoes.
• Affected areas identified by forecasters include The Dalles, Pendleton, and Baker City in Oregon, as well as Yakima in Washington. Authorities stated that thunderstorm activity may also extend westward toward the Cascade mountain region during the late evening hours.
• Meteorologists warned that some weakening storm systems could potentially move into the Willamette Valley later on Thursday (28 May). However, minimal direct impacts are currently expected across the Willamette Valley, Portland-Vancouver metropolitan area, and coastal regions of Oregon and Washington.
• Officials additionally warned that frequent lightning activity combined with gusty winds and drought-affected conditions may significantly elevate wildfire ignition and fire spread risks through the morning hours of Friday (29 May). Fire weather concerns are expected to remain elevated across parts of central and eastern Oregon and Washington during the forecast period.
• Forecasters stated that the severe weather threat is expected to gradually diminish by the morning hours of Friday (29 May), with cooler temperatures anticipated across western Oregon and southwest Washington following passage of the storm system.
