As per reports, heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, damaging winds, large hail and tornadoes are possible in Louisville area during the afternoon of Friday (16 May) as a storm system is expected to move through the region.
• The moderate risk, which is the fourth-highest level, area includes the western half of Kentucky and much of southern Indiana. Kentucky cities east of Frankfort are in the enhanced risk area, the third-highest level.
• A greater than 10 percent chance of an EF2-EF5 tornado exists within 25 miles in Louisville on Friday (16 May). Similarly, a greater than 30 percent chance of hail of at least two inches in diameter exists within 25 miles, and a greater than 45 percent chance of significant wind gusts of at least 74 mph exists within 25 miles.
• Louisville is also under a slight risk for flash flooding on Friday (16 May), meaning there is at least a 15 percent chance the metro area will see flash floods. Urban areas are more vulnerable to flash flooding.
