As per reports, a public rally titled ‘Sem Tiranos’ (No Kings) is scheduled to take place at Praça General Humberto Delgado, in front of the city hall, between 1330 hours (1330 hours UTC) and 1530 hours local time (1530 hours UTC) on Saturday (28 March).
The event is being organised by Indivisible Porto and is primarily aimed at Americans living in Porto and surrounding regions. The rally forms part of coordinated ‘No Kings’ demonstrations taking place globally on the same day.
• Speakers are expected to address concerns related to the direction of US democracy, including voter suppression, transgender rights, immigration policies, and cuts to humanitarian programs such as USAID.
• The rally also aims to encourage civic engagement, including participation in elections and communication with elected representatives.
• Organisers state that the event reflects concerns among Americans abroad regarding policies perceived to undermine democratic institutions and the rule of law.
