According to reports, a group of people attacked and set fire to the house of former Bangladesh national cricket captain and former Magura-1 lawmaker Shakib Al Hasan on Wednesday (05 August).

• The incident occurred at about 2100 hours (local time), hours after Shakib appeared at deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s virtual press conference.
• Police stated that a petrol bomb-like object was hurled at southern side of the house. Although it ignited a fire, local residents immediately extinguished the flames, preventing any major damage.
• Police has been deployed near the house to prevent any untoward situation.
