As per reports, several thousand activists from the Kale Pani Da Morcha (KPDM) gathered near the Verka Milk Plant on Ferozepur Road in Ludhiana on Tuesday (03 December) morning to march towards Tajpur Road. The protest march was organised to block the discharge lines of dyeing units, which they alleged were releasing untreated effluents into the Buddha Nullah.

Police stated that an almost equal number of workers of dyeing units and other industries assembled on Tajpur Road and Bahadurke Road to block the KPDM activists. Amid escalating tensions, the District Administration deployed a large contingent of police, including anti-riot units, and set up heavy barricades on Ferozepur Road. Vehicles were restricted within a one kilometre zone of the protest, while nearly 50 KPDM members were taken into preventive custody. Authorites managed to disperse the protest by 1600 hours, however several police personnel continue to be deployed in the area to prevent further unrest.
