As per reports, the Habiganj district administration has imposed Section 144 on Wednesday (29 July) across the Habiganj municipal area with immediate effect and until further notice.

• The restrictions have been imposed amid concerns over a deterioration in the law-and-order situation following planned protest programmes by the National Citizens Party (NCP) and counter-protests by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Chhatra Dal and Jubo Dal.
• Under the order, gatherings of five or more people, public meetings, processions, slogan chanting, picketing, loudspeaker use and other activities that could disrupt public order have been prohibited.
• Authorities stated that the restrictions were imposed as a preventive measure due to the likelihood of large crowds gathering and the risk of clashes, casualties and property damage.
