As per reports, Hungary’s Chief Medical Officer, in coordination with the National Center for Public Health and Pharmacy (NNGYK) and the National Directorate General for Disaster Management (BM OKF), has issued a second-degree heat warning across Hungary between Monday (30 June) and Friday (04 July).
• The warning is in effect from 0000 hours (local time) on Monday (30 June) until 0000 hours (local time) on Friday (04 July). Forecasts indicate a prolonged heatwave, with daytime temperatures approaching 40 degrees Celsius in several regions.
• This heatwave may have a more pronounced impact in urban areas, where buildings and paved surfaces retain heat throughout the night, impeding nocturnal cooling.
• Public health authorities strongly recommend ensuring adequate hydration, limiting outdoor exposure, and using body-cooling methods such as water sprays, lukewarm showers, and foot baths.
• Additionally, the public is advised to regularly check parked vehicles to prevent heatstroke incidents involving children, pets, or sensitive equipment.
• Due to fire risks, lighting outdoor fires is strictly prohibited throughout the alert period. However, grilling or cooking in private gardens is permitted under strict supervision.
