Scheduled suspension of CTA Loop elevated train service in Chicago from Saturday (25 October) to Monday (27 October)

As per reports, the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) announced that no train service will operate on the Loop elevated tracks this weekend due to scheduled maintenance work. The service suspension is expected to begin at 0400 hours local time (0900 hours UTC) on Saturday (25 October) and continue until 0200 hours (0700 hours UTC) on Monday (27 October).

In addition to track work, CTA crews are expected to perform flooring and platform repairs, lighting upgrades, staircase and canopy maintenance, and general repainting across the affected stations. To accommodate passengers, the CTA is expected to operate two free bus shuttle services:

• Pink Line: After Polk station, trains are planned to be rerouted to Racine Blue Line station, where riders can transfer to Blue Line subway service.
• Green, Orange, and Brown Lines: Free shuttle buses aere planned to run between Roosevelt and Clinton stations every 4–12 minutes, stopping along State, Washington, and Madison streets.
• The Red and Blue lines are expected to continue normal operations.
• All Loop elevated stations (Clark/Lake, State/Lake, Washington/Wabash, Adams/Wabash, Harold Washington Library, LaSalle/Van Buren, Quincy, and Washington/Wells) are planned to remain closed for the duration of the project.
