As per reports, the Mayor’s Office of Santiago de Cali and the Mobility Secretariat have announced the enforcement schedule for the Pico y Placa vehicle restriction program on Tuesday (09 June).
• The regulatory measure, which operates between 0600 hours local time (1100 hours UTC) and 1900 hours local time (0000 hours UTC), restricts the circulation of specific private and public transport vehicles based on the terminal digit of their license plates.
• Under the established guidelines for Tuesday (09 June), private individual vehicles with plates ending in three and four, alongside collective public transport vehicles with plates ending in eight and nine, are prohibited from driving through the municipality’s street network.
• The restriction framework does not apply to taxis or motorcycles during this period. Furthermore, the Mobility Secretariat has outlined specific vehicle categories that remain completely exempt from the Pico y Placa mandate, including emergency response vehicles, official diplomatic and consular services, transport for individuals with reduced mobility, hybrid and electric cars, and cargo vehicles with a capacity equal to or exceeding five tons.
• Drivers who choose to pay the authorized city congestion fee are also permitted to bypass the ban. The government of Santiago de Cali warned that violating these guidelines carries a statutory fine equivalent to 15 days of the current minimum wage, totaling COP 711,750 under article 131 of the National Land Traffic Code.
