As per reports, Monday (24 March) marks the beginning of the third week in which frontline workers for Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) are striking in Santa Clara County, California.
Updates on the strike and ongoing negotiations as of Monday (24 March) are as follows:
• The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) Board convened a special meeting yesterday (23 March) to address the ongoing strike by Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 265.
• On Sunday (23 March) the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) board proposed an increase to the agency’s most recent proposal with authorization to go up to an 11 percent offer paying out at four percent, four percent, three percent over three years, conditional upon agreeing to proposals that reduce absenteeism to guarantee reliability of service. This also represents an increase from the previous board-authorized offer of nine percent over three years.
• Local 265 President Agent Raj Singh stated that the proposal falls short, potentially indicating that the strike is set to continue for now.
