As per reports, the Transit and Mobility Agency (ATM) and the Municipality of Guayaquil have announced a major urban infrastructure campaign that will significantly restrict vehicular movement across the downtown commercial core. Beginning Tuesday (26 May), a critical section of Rumichaca Street will undergo partial closure for approximately three months to accommodate the structural reconstruction of the exclusive lane for Trunk Line 4 (Troncal 4) of the Metrovía system.
• Rumichaca Street is expected to experience a high-impact partial closure for approximately three months starting 26 May along a five-block sector to allow for the structural reconstruction of the exclusive Metrovía lane.
• Pedro Robles Chambers Street is anticipated to undergo full and partial road closures from Lizardo García to Carchi for structural repaving, and drivers are advised to utilize alternative routes such as El Oro or Carlos Guevara Moreno.
• Enrique Vacas Galindo Street is expected to face excavation and concrete pouring works from Los Ríos to Del Ejército Avenue that are expected to last up to three months, with El Oro or Bolivia recommended as alternative transit routes.
• Downtown pothole repairs may cause ongoing partial closures and lane restrictions at the intersections of Padre Solano and Esmeraldas, Esmeraldas and 9 de Octubre, Esmeraldas and Hurtado, Manuel Galecio and Rumichaca, Boyacá between 10 de Agosto and Sucre, Sucre and Boyacá, and Malecón and Imbabura.
• The primary closure on Rumichaca Street will span five blocks from Febres Cordero to Franco Dávila, reducing general vehicular transit to a single open lane heading toward the city center.
