As per reports, on Thursday (03 July), a truck fire occurred on the A4 motorway near the Bad Hersfeld district of Petersberg in Hesse, Germany. The incident involved a Polish truck driver operating a truck with a trailer between the Bad Hersfeld and Friedewald junctions. The road closure is expected to last until Friday afternoon (04 July).
• Reportedly, the fire is believed to have originated in the engine compartment during an uphill drive. Upon noticing dense smoke, the driver stopped the vehicle and attempted to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher. However, the fire spread rapidly, engulfing the tractor unit.
• Emergency response teams, comprising approximately 50 personnel, arrived promptly and secured the area. The IBIS police helicopter was deployed for aerial monitoring. Firefighters successfully contained the fire, preventing it from spreading to the trailer. No injuries were reported.
• Due to the intensity of the fire, the roadway sustained substantial damage near a construction site. Consequently, the A4 motorway in the direction of Dresden has been fully closed until further notice, with reopening expected by Friday afternoon (04 July).
